Central Asian Equines is located in the beautiful rolling hills of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The climate is ideally suited for raising horses, and enables our horses to live outside virtually year-round with large run-in sheds and excellent pasture.
We have an 4-stall broodmare barn with rubber matting in each stall, a 4-stall stallion barn, and separate pastures for each, with safe exterior vinyl and interior 3-board fencing. Our orchard grass pastures and hayfields total 109 acres, with large shade trees or run-in sheds for shelter. We have a spacious 100' x 200' outdoor arena, and are currently designing a new stallion barn which will house our office as well. We are less than 15 minutes from the Virginia Horse Center, home of countless equestrian events in every sport, and within an hour's drive of 5 different foxhunts.
We handle our foals daily, and oversee every aspect of their lives from day 1, they are happy, healthy and well-adjusted, coming to greet visitors in the field. We believe in recreating the conditions the breed originated in, and feed a high-protein, high-fat diet with plain grass hay and forage, with ample if not full-time turnout. We grow, maintain, and harvest our own hay to insure the quality and processing. We implement top-notch worming and health care programs, and are a short drive from 2 different stallion stations, for stallion collections and frozen semen inseminations and a multi-faceted equine hospital for emergencies.
We welcome visitors at our farm, please contact us if you would like to schedule a visit. We are located just outside Lexington, Virginia, an easy drive from the Lynchburg or Roanoke airports, and only a 3 hour drive from Washington, DC.
